CiTi Leads Efforts to Launch Community Schools Initiative for Oswego County
To meet the needs of Oswego County, the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation began work on a Community Schools service offering in the spring of 2024, where educators, local community members, families and students work together to strengthen conditions for student learning and healthy development.
The Oswego County Community Schools Advisory Council is a multi-tiered system of support that creates strategies to address learning barriers and build on existing strengths to promote student success.. Their mission is to create powerful student and family engagement, a sense of belonging, and a shared voice for the community.
Brian Heffron, Administrator of Workforce Development & Community Relations at CiTi says, “I am thrilled to join community members from a wide range of different backgrounds that serve our students on a new pathway that will reach our students in a variety of different ways that only could be done through this collaborative effort.”
They recently held a meeting where they discussed that efforts to increase school readiness for the youngest learners would be a prioritized area of focus. Oswego County Community Schools strives to create expanded and enriching learning opportunities and this practice is a driving force in creating new types of school programming.
Geri Geitner is the Leadership Liaison at CiTi.
