STRIVE Students Enjoy Visit From Local Entrepreneur

Students in the CiTi BOCES STRIVE Middle School Program recently had the opportunity to hear from guest speaker Chris Stein, an assistant professor of technology at SUNY Oswego and the owner of a successful construction and landscaping business.
Stein, who has owned and operated his business for more than 20 years, shared his personal and professional journey with students, offering insight into the path that led him to both higher education and entrepreneurship. His presentation focused on the value of hard work, the importance of pursuing one’s passions and the rewards that come from doing work you truly enjoy.
Throughout the session, students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and showing a genuine interest in Stein’s experiences and advice. He discussed the skills needed to run a business, overcome challenges and remain motivated, while also emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning and perseverance.
The presentation provided students with real-world perspectives and practical life lessons, reinforcing the program’s mission to prepare learners for future academic, career and personal success.
