Update Your Resume - Helpful Hints
Go over your resume from top to bottom. Is your phone number and address correct? Is your email appropriate? Capitalize proper nouns, clean up the format.
Do you have additional skills or work experience? Have you worked on a special project (in or out of school), participated in SkillsUSA or another club, earned an award? Are you a volunteer firefighter?
Share your Google doc resume with your teacher, CTaormina@citiboces.net & KRodriquez@citiboces.net -
Interview Preparation
An interview is a conversation, not an interrogation. The interview should be a back-and-forth discussion, with both sides asking questions of each other to determine if you are a good fit for the company and position.
DRESS appropriately – be neat, clean, and dressed one step above the type of work. Get your clothes ready ahead of time!
Bring your resume, notepad, industry certifications, portfolio or relevant pictures.
DO: arrive 10-15 minutes early, greet the employer/handshake, maintain eye contact, thank the interviewer.
DON’T: chew gum, play with your cell phone, slouch, act distracted, overshare.
PREPARE: Research the company as well as interested positions; Review your resume and be prepared to explain things. -

Why should we hire you? - Be ready to support how you are a good fit for the company or the job. Do you have a passion for this line of work? You may talk about internships or special projects.
What are your career goals? Where do you expect to be in 5 or 10 years? Be honest and give your best guess. Are you open to new pathways and opportunities that may arise?
