The Career and Technical Education department at the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation (CiTi) recently received several donations from local businesses that will contribute to the student learning experience.
Steve and Laurie Doty of Oswego recently donated a 2003 Volvo V70 to the Auto Technology program.
“This contribution gives high school students the opportunity to learn and solve real-world problems,” said Carol Taormina, CiTi Work-Based Learning Coordinator.
Auto Technology students will use the car to diagnose issues and make repairs as well as minor body work. Public Safety and Justice students will also use the car to practice an auto rescue operation in the future.
“We’d also like to thank Scottie’s Towing and Road Service of Oswego for donating their time and service to deliver the undrivable car to CiTi’s Mexico location,” said Taormina.
Huhtamaki of Fulton, NY, donated several tools and equipment to the new Industrial Electrical Technology program at CiTi. The U.S. Geological Survey Lake Ontario Biological Station also donated an outboard motor to the Outdoor Power Equipment Technology program.
“Our community and business members play an important role in the education of Oswego County youth,” said Career and Technical Education Principal Michael Thurlow. “We appreciate the support and welcome partnership opportunities to best serve all stakeholders.”
