DEVELON North America, a prominent manufacturer of construction equipment, recently expressed their gratitude for the ongoing partnership with CiTi BOCES.
Jeff Horan, Regional Product Support Manager with DEVELON North America, recently visited CiTi BOCES to connect with 12th-grade students enrolled in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Heavy Equipment program. During his visit, he presented a plaque as a token of DEVELON's appreciation for CiTi's dedication to their training program.
“This collaboration has resulted in valuable opportunities for students and employees, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between education and industry,” said CiTi Administrator of Workforce Development & Community Relations Brian Heffron.
One of the key aspects of this partnership involves CiTi opening its doors to DEVELON during the summer, providing a platform for DEVELON to bring in their current employees participating in training programs related to the maintenance and operation of large-scale construction equipment. In return, DEVELON offers opportunities for training and equipment donation, which significantly contributes to the education of high school students who are honing the skills necessary for their future careers in the construction industry.
"It's a win-win for both entities," stated Nick Marshall, CiTi Heavy Equipment Instructor. "Their employees benefit from exposure to our training facilities and industrial learning experiences, while our students gain invaluable experience with high-tech equipment."
The demand for skilled employees in the trades continues to grow, driven by large-scale construction projects such as the I-81 Viaduct Project and Micron's upcoming semiconductor manufacturing facility in Clay, NY.
“DEVELON's commitment to CiTi BOCES enhances the workforce pipeline and contributes to the preparation of students for these exciting opportunities,” said Heffron.
