Oswego County Legislature Awards Funding for CiTi BOCES Manufacturing & Automation Lab

The Oswego County Legislature has awarded funding to CiTi BOCES to establish a state-of-the-art Manufacturing & Automation Lab, a transformative resource that will serve Oswego County high school students, adult learners and the regional workforce.

This groundbreaking initiative is the result of a collaborative effort between Empire State Development (ESD), local industry partners, workforce development agencies and the Oswego County Legislature. The lab will focus on advanced robotic and cobot automation training, addressing a critical need for accessible, high-quality technical education in Central New York.

Despite several manufacturers in Oswego County already incorporating robotic automation into their processes, training spaces dedicated to this field are scarce throughout the region. The new lab will enable individuals to develop cutting-edge skills close to home and work, aligning educational opportunities with industry demands.

"The generous support of the Oswego County Legislature is a game-changer for our region's workforce development," said Brian Heffron, Administrator of Workforce Development at CiTi BOCES. "The establishment of the Manufacturing and Automation Lab will equip Career Technical Education students, adult learners, and the current workforce with cutting-edge skills in robotics and cobot automation. This investment not only enhances our ability to provide industry-aligned training but also strengthens the future of advanced manufacturing in Oswego County. We are deeply grateful for the Legislature's commitment to empowering our community and driving economic growth."

This initiative underscores a shared commitment to economic growth and workforce advancement, providing a much-needed solution for local manufacturers and creating new pathways for career success.
