Dental Chairside Assisting

  • Program Description

    This hands-on program provides an excellent opportunity for those with an interest in the dental profession to begin a rewarding career. Students receive training in a well-equipped dental classroom/lab. Coursework includes: healthcare foundations, sciences in dentistry, emergency care, infection control, preventive dentistry, clinical assisting and procedures, dental radiology, and internship experiences. Additional Program Notes: Students in this program are required to have a current physical, and health immunizations.

    Industry Assessments:

    To be licensed as a registered dental assistant in New York state you must: • be at least 18 years of age; • meet education requirements; and • meet examination requirements. Passing scores on appropriate examinations administered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), Inc. are required for licensure in New York. If you meet DANB’s eligibility requirements, you must take and pass the current DANB CDA examination consisting of the following three components: Radiation Health and Safety (RHS), Infection Control (ICE), and General Chairside (GC).

    Program Supplies, Materials, Assessments Provided:

    Scrubs, shoes, American Heart Association - First Aid, CPR and AED (Adult, Child and Infant Certifications), and NYS licensing fee (if eligible).
